The Syntopia concept: co-existence, free-spirit and modern Cretan hospitality
Syntopia probably sounds “Greek” to you, but guess what, it is! It comes from the Greek words “Syn” (a prefix meaning “together”) + “Topos” (which means “place”). By terms of biology, syntopia is a state of co-existence, a state where different species share the same habitat. The Urban Dictionary on the other hand defines syntopia as a future which is neither dystopic nor utopic, but rather is essentially identical to the present.
Our Syntopia, The Syntopia, embodies both definitions in a way. It is a “topos”, a place, where the future is now but also a place of coexistence, of sharing… A dreamy, yet tangible getaway.
A new concept, an alternative to the classic hotels and resorts in Crete, a meeting point for people from different cultures who share the same love of a hippie life: that’s The Syntopia. In this relaxed hotel the “gypset” lifestyle meets Cretan hospitality in its contemporary form, creating a whole new world. After all, Crete is the island the original hippies fell in love with back in the 1960s, settling their nomadic homes on sandy beaches and fishing villages (Matala, Preveli, Vai).
In our Syntopia you can travel across the globe with street-food dishes inspired by ethnic cuisines, enjoy live international music and explore the local products at wine tasting and raki tasting events. You may learn how to cook like-a-Cretan, or just immerse yourself in the plush pool side beds, under the hot Mediterranean sun, watching people go by with a fruity cocktail in hand.
If barefoot luxury is your thing, if your wanderlust leads you to a perpetual search for new experiences, if you are a sun, sand and clear-blue-waters worshipper, if you’re into hipster flair, then you are at the right place to indulge your untamed spirit.
Welcome to The Syntopia world!
